Guest Article: Embrace the Tough Seasons

I got a chance to attend a gathering of investors event this weekend and I learned so much.
One of the CEO’s there kept saying this: DON'T DESPISE THE HARD TIMES BECAUSE FROM THEM COMES THE BEST OPPORTUNITIES. Sounds very encouraging, right? Until you walk through those tough seasons yourself and all you see are the impossibilities.
I have been in those seasons myself. Seasons where the waves of life keep tossing you up and down. Where you think you had what you prayed for, but it just slipped through your fingers. Seasons where you had your hopes so high and you thought "Finally! God heard my prayers", only for your hope to come crumbling down into pieces. I bet you that you’ve been there too and you can identify with what I’m saying.
So, what do we do when we find ourselves in those tough seasons? How do we make sure we don't lose our faith in all the pain and doubts that life may throw our way? John 16:33 is one of my favorite verses; it says: "I have told you these things so that IN ME (IN JESUS) you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble but take heart I HAVE OVERCOME the world". Woah. Ain't that beautiful?!
When we find ourselves being tossed up and down by fear, uncertainty, doubt and pain, let that verse be our reminder that we have been promised PEACE IN CHRIST. Let that verse remind us that no matter how bad things get, we can still lay down and be in a place of unwavering peace.
This is for a person who has been trying to pray away their tough seasons. The person who is so tired of the battles, and who, with tears in her eyes, whispers "God, I don't think I can do this". Honey, I know the agony of a hopeless heart. But, the good thing is, no matter the hardships, JESUS HAS ALREADY OVERCOME IT! Rest in knowing that the Victory is already yours. The battle has already been won!
Instead of wishing away our tough seasons, let’s dare to pick up our hope one more time. Let's say this: "God I can't wait to see what you have for me in this season and after this season, because at the end of the tunnel there is always light!”
Hugs.
